Budget 2026 to open new chapter on boosting nation's economy, says Ahmad Zahid


KUALA LUMPUR: The 2026 Budget to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this evening will open a new chapter in strengthening the country's economy and improving the well-being of the people.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said through the 2025 Budget, the allocation of RM11.96bil previously received by the ministry has been fully utilised to strengthen the Desa Madani agenda.

"I express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Finance Minister, and the Madani Government for the strong support given to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry through Budget 2025.

"Every cent of the allocation is translated into various tangible initiatives that develop rural communities, strengthen the people’s economy and improve rural infrastructure," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Oct 10).

Ahmad Zahid said the Rural and Regional Development Ministry would continue to be committed to carrying out its responsibilities with full trust in ensuring that every government policy and programme directly benefits the people in all corners of the country," he said.

Ahmad Zahid also invited all citizens to join in the tabling of Budget 2026.

"It is prayed that Budget 2026 will continue to bring prosperity to all Malaysians, God willing," he said.

Anwar will present Budget 2026 at the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm this evening.

It is the fourth budget presented by the government led by him, and the first under the 13th Malaysia Plan, thus becoming the main thrust for the implementation of the national development plan for the next five years. - Bernama
