Local traders upset over Deepavali stall allocations

LOCAL small traders are crying foul, claiming that they have been pushed aside in favour of foreign traders and stall operators at the Brickfields Deepavali bazaar, Makkal Osai reported.

People’s Progressive Party (PPP) president and former Federal Territories deputy minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the Deepavali bazaar this year has raised many serious questions.

The organisers have seemingly favoured foreign traders at the expense of local traders in stall allocations, he claimed.

The arrangements of the stalls have also caused problems for the small traders, which must be clarified.

Loga Bala said setting up stalls along the main road in Brickfields has made the already bad traffic situation in the area much worse.

He further claimed that no stalls have been allocated for the disabled, which was another serious complaint lodged by the traders.

He urged the organisers to study the bazaar arrangements again and improve on them.
