Media practitioners were seen gathering at the nomination centre compounds as early as 7am to cover the nomination process, with supporters of political parties also arriving gradually to show support for their respective candidates.

The 36-seat Negeri Sembilan State Assembly was dissolved on June 5, after which the Election Commission (EC) fixed July 28 for early voting and Aug 1 as polling day.

A total of 889,490 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the state election, comprising 867,151 ordinary voters, 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,455 police personnel.

Earlier, Pakatan Harapan announced that it would contest all 36 state seats, while Barisan Nasional would vie for 25 seats, Perikatan Nasional 11 seats, and Parti Orang Asli Malaysia, Parti Sosialis Malaysia and Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia one seat each.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia was the last party to announce its participation in the Negeri Sembilan state polls as a solo contender, deciding to contest 24 state seats, including two seats allocated to Parti Bersepakat Hak Rakyat Malaysia, which would use the Bersatu logo.

In the 15th Negeri Sembilan state election held in 2023, Pakatan won 17 of the 36 state seats, followed by Barisan with 14 seats and Perikatan with five seats. - Bernama
