They were charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 20 years upon conviction.

According to the charge, they were allegedly members of the organised criminal group 'Geng Captain Praba', at a palm oil plantation on Jalan Mahang, Kampung Sungai Jarom, Jenjarom, Kuala Langat, between December 2023 and Sept 11, 2025.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Mustafa P. Kunyalam appeared for the prosecution, while ten of the accused were represented by counsel. The remaining three, Meganathan, Sangaranarayanan and Vijaya Kumar, were unrepresented.

The court denied bail and set Nov 10 for mention pending the submission of case documents.

Previously, on Sept 24, the media reported that police had dismantled an organised criminal group through Ops Jack Sparrow, arresting 17 individuals across four states on Sept 11.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail was quoted as saying the group is believed to have been active since 2023, engaging in violent crimes such as murder and arson.

He added that the group's violence, including a fatality at Taman Sentosa, Klang, had been widely circulated on social media. - Bernama
