Two Chinese tourists hit by car near Kota Kinabalu mosque


KOTA KINABALU: Two Chinese tourists were hit by a car while taking photographs outside the city mosque here, Tuesday (Oct 7).

In the 4pm mishap, the women were posing for a photograph by the roadside when a car, driven by another woman, swerved and crashed into the duo.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said following the mishap, one of the victims sustained injuries to her ears, cheek, hands and legs, while the other escaped with minor injuries.

"Both victims were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment and are reported stable," he said in a statement.

The driver, he said, is being investigated for driving recklessly.

ACP Kasim urged drivers to focus and drive carefully when on the road to prevent accidents.
