Claims for fuel refund open Oct 9

Motorists affected by Budi95 technical glitches can get reimbursements

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists who are affected by technical glitches at petrol stations and had to pay for unsubsidised RON95 prices at the pumps can file a claim to recover the difference, says Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.

The Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry said apart from a few minor glitches, which were quickly resolved, the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programme has been running smoothly nationwide since it was introduced last Tuesday.

“There were some complaints, such as system outages, but it was managed speedily. However, if motorists ended up paying unsubsidised RON95 prices as a result, they may file for a claim,” Fuziah said.

Businesses and individuals can apply for refunds for unsubsidised petrol purchases made between Sept 30 and Oct 31 at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my with the claims supported by proof of purchase, such as copies of RON95 receipts.

The refund application will open from Oct 9 onwards.Businesses are also required to register with the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS) and produce proof of having applied for a fleet card on or before Oct 31 to be eligible for the scheme.

Upon verification and approval by the ministry, the refunds will be credited to the applicants’ bank accounts within 15 working days.

Those who wish to make further enquiries may contact the SKPS call centre at 03-8882 5893 / 5894 / 5923 / 6667 or via email at bayaranbalikmysubsidi@kpdn.gov.my

Fuziah also said that registration for subsidised petrol for businesses under the SKPS was lukewarm since the Budi95 programme commenced.

She said only 25% of businesses with vehicles eligible for subsidised petrol under the system have registered with the ministry to date.

“The response has not been very encouraging, but the ministry is engaging the relevant groups, such as taxi associations, to get them to register under the SKPS to enjoy the petrol subsidy. Those who are late to carry out the registration can still claim the subsidy backdated from Oct 1 as long as they produce receipts for their petrol purchase.

“We hope they will register under the SKPS promptly,” Fuziah said at a Digital Kitchen or Dapur Digital initiative at a Seri Perlis II People’s Housing Project (PPR) flats in Datuk Keramat here yesterday.

She also reminded that foreign vehicles are disallowed from filling up with subsidised RON95 and urged the public to report to the ministry if they come across such cases.
