Nine GSF ships reach Egypt, en route to Gaza


PETALING JAYA: Nine new ships, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission, have reached the shores of Marsa Matruh, Egypt and will continue sailing to Gaza.

GSF said the ships will continue its journey, challenging the Israel blockade.

“The global journey must continue… At all ports, roads and platforms. We will not stop,” it said, according to an Anadolu Agency report on Friday (Oct 3).

The new convoy set sail two days after Israeli forces sieged and attacked more than 40 boats sailing to Gaza, arresting more than 450 activists on board.

On Thursday, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) said 11 more ships are sailing towards Gaza to break the Israeli blockade which has lasted for years.

According to the FFC about 100 volunteers are on the boats, along the Crete coast.

The FFC was formed in 2008 and has launched multiple missions aimed at sending aid and attracting global attention towards the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
