KUCHING: State Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Matthew Dominic Barin says the full rollout of the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) petrol subsidy is proceeding well in Sarawak with no complaints from consumers.
"The first day of the full implementation of Budi95 is going smoothly.
"We have not received any complaints as of now," he told reporters during a walkabout at a fuel station here on Tuesday (Sept 30).
Matthew said the ministry had made preparations in all its branches statewide to provide advocacy to consumers regarding the petrol subsidy initiative.
He said about 200 enforcement officers had been deployed throughout Sarawak to assist consumers.
"We will also assist and work with fuel companies on the implementation," he said.
Matthew added that the enforcement officers would monitor fuel stations to ensure foreign vehicles do not purchase RON95 petrol.
In this respect, he urged fuel station operators to be ethical and comply with the regulations.
"Our enforcement officers are everywhere in Sarawak and we call on everyone to prevent fuel subsidy abuse and leakage," he said.
Under the Budi95 initiative, eligible Malaysians can purchase up to 300 litres of RON95 petrol a month at RM1.99 per litre.
