PETALING JAYA: The first day of the implementation of Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) fuel subsidy initiative, initially opened exclusively for members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police, proceeded smoothly, says the Finance Ministry.

In a statement Saturday (Sept 27), the ministry said that nearly 20% of the 300,000 eligible armed forces and police personnel had conducted Budi95 transactions at petrol stations nationwide.

"As of 9pm Saturday evening, purchases amounting to RM2.6mil have been recorded for the purchase of 1.3 million litres of RON95 petrol at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.

"Based on field reports, Budi95 operations are running smoothly, with the system stable and MyKad reading by terminals at petrol stations functioning well<" it said.

The ministry also expressed its appreciation to all armed forces and police personnel who were among the first groups to benefit from Budi95.

On Sunday (Sept 28), the Budi95 system will be expanded to over five million recipients of the Rahmah Cash Assistance (STR) in the B40 category, before being fully implemented on Sept 30 for 16 million Malaysians who possess an active MyKad and driving licence.

The ministry added that since the Budi95 portal was launched on Sept 25, 8.1 million users have checked their eligibility for the RON95 subsidy.

The public can refer to the frequently asked questions (FAQ) via the official Budi95 portal at www.budimadani.gov.my or contact the helpline at 1-300-88-9595 for further information.
