GEORGE TOWN: The rollout of the targeted RON95 subsidy for army and police personnel under the Budi Madani initiative began smoothly on Saturday (Sept 27), with no system glitches or pump breakdowns reported nationwide.
Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, who visited the Jalan Masjid Negeri Shell station in Jelutong to observe policemen refuelling, said operations at all participating stations were running as planned.
She said oil companies had updated their systems and trained staff in recent days to ensure a seamless transition.

“Everything is ready across Malaysia. Touch ’n Go cash and system updates have been completed, and so far there have been no problems,” she said at a press conference on Saturday.
Lim said some individuals received messages stating they were ineligible despite having valid MyKad and driving licences.
She added they should not panic.
“Anyone facing this can immediately call the Budi Madani hotline at 1300-889-595 to clarify their status,” she said.
She reminded eligible recipients that the monthly subsidy is capped at 300 litres, with the balance refreshed on the first of every month.
“For example, if on September 30 you have used only two litres, the quota resets to 300 litres on October 1,” she said.
The deputy minister added that petrol prices remain unchanged, with no immediate plans for adjustment.
“The current price of RM1.99 per litre will remain stable. The government has no plans to raise or lower it for now,” she said.
Lim thanked the police, army and oil companies for their cooperation in ensuring the launch proceeded without incident.
She said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to safeguard the welfare of Malaysians while ensuring subsidies are channelled fairly.
