PETALING JAYA: Thorough preparations are in place for the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) under the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) on September 30, said Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.
In a statement on Saturday (Sept 27), Fuziah said fuel companies are ready and have ensured pumps and payment systems at terminals and station counters are fully functioning.
She said between Sept 15 and Friday (Sept 26), a total of 5,829 companies operating 13,800 petrol stations nationwide registered for SKPS.
She added the ministry provides companies flexibility to determine distribution quotas based on their fleet cards.
Fuziah said the ministry was asked to assess additional needs for Budi95 during an engagement session with Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan and MPs on Wednesday (Sept 25).
“These include non-land public transportation such as passenger boats, sampan and motorised canoes used to transport students and serve rural communities in remote areas,” she said.
She said the ministry will open customer service counters at all state and branch offices from Sunday (Sept 28) for states where Sunday is a working day and from Monday (Sept 29) for other states.
She said these counters will operate for a week to ensure smooth implementation.
The ministry will ensure officers are fully aware of the different mechanisms for Budi Madani Individu95 using MyKad at RM1.99 per litre, and Budi Madani MySubsidi95 @ SKPS using fleet cards at RM2.05 per litre.
“For any enquiries regarding Budi Madani Individu95 (MyKad users), please contact the Finance Ministry via https://www.budi95.gov.my/
She said the ministry is confident that leakages and abuse will be reduced with retargeted subsidies at petrol stations.
She added it will also prevent excessive increases in prices of goods and public transport services.
Fuziah said savings from reduced leakage can help the government strengthen the country’s fiscal position.
