Budi95 reflects commitment to national security readiness, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing national security readiness through integrated support for the police and the Armed Forces, says Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

The Inspector-General of Police expressed the police force’s appreciation to the government for Budi95, which comes into effect on Saturday (Sept 27) for the police and military.

“The Budi95 programme demonstrates the government’s determination to strengthen national security readiness while fostering greater collaboration between enforcement and defence agencies,” he said on Saturday.

He said the initiative will add value to operational effectiveness and reinforce strategic cooperation between the country’s security agencies.

“Such efforts are crucial to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people, as well as safeguarding Malaysia’s sovereignty,” he added.

Under Budi95, about 300,000 Armed Forces and police personnel are eligible to purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre compared with the market price of RM2.05.

The targeted subsidy programme, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on September 22, will be rolled out in stages.

After the Armed Forces and police, Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah recipients in the B40 group will benefit starting Sept 28.

From September 30, the subsidy will extend to 16 million Malaysians aged 16 and above who hold a MyKad and an active driving licence.

Anwar said all citizens, regardless of income level, will automatically qualify for Budi95 as long as they have a valid driving licence.
