Immigration Dept detains 11 Myanmar nationals in Pasir Puteh

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Immigration Department has detained 11 Myanmar nationals in an enforcement operation conducted from last Tuesday to Wednesday (Sept 24) in Pasir Puteh.

State Immigration director, Mohamed Yusoff Khan Mohd Hassan, said the integrated operation involving checks on foreigners in the Selising area, known as Ops Sapu, was a result of intelligence gathering by the Enforcement Division.

"The individuals are suspected of committing offences under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. They have been taken to the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot for further investigation," he said in a statement on Wednesday night.

He emphasised that the department will continue to carry out enforcement operations relentlessly to combat the presence of illegal immigrants in the state.

"The Immigration Department urges members of the public to come forward with any information regarding immigrants or illegal activities involving foreigners. We will not compromise. Stern action will be taken against any party who masterminds, facilitates, or is complicit in harbouring illegal immigrants," he said.

The public can channel information via the hotline at 019-9840377 or through the official JIM complaint website at https://imi.spab.gov.my.- Bernama
