Zara inquest: Shafie confirms receiving show-cause letter, says he will respond

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will respond to a show-cause letter for contempt over his remarks on the Zara Qairina Mahathir case.

He said he was served the notice on Tuesday (Sept 23).

On Monday (Sept 22), Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan issued the notice to Shafie after counsel Datuk Ram Singh played a short video allegedly containing a speech which touched on the ongoing case.

Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir passed away in hospital on July 17, a day after she was found unconscious on the ground floor of her school dormitory in Papar, Sabah.

The Coroner's Court has convened an inquest on her death.
