Johor gets 20 ambulances from Health Ministry


JOHOR BARU: Johor has received 20 ambulances from the Health Ministry as part of efforts to strengthen its emergency response system and improve the quality of public healthcare across the state.

Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the 20 Type B ambulances marked the first phase of the handover involving a total of 46 vehicles announced earlier.

"Out of the total, nine are Type A and 37 Type B vehicles. These 20 units will be distributed to 20 health facilities, including hospitals and health clinics in both urban and rural areas," he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 18).

The facilities include Hospital Pasir Gudang as well as the Kulai, Yong Peng, Bandar Penawar, Simpang Renggam, Segamat, Palong Timur and Bandarputra health clinics.

He added that several additional initiatives have also been introduced by the state under Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, including RM3.46mil to support the relocation of maternal and child health services at Hospital Sultan Ismail and the centralised follow-up medicine supply centre and RM1mil for the development of a maternal and child health clinic in Gelang Patah.

The state government has also allocated RM1mil for additional equipment at HSI, RM200,000 for additional equipment, including 104 beds, at Hospital Pasir Gudang and RM100,000 for additional equipment at the Polyclinic in Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
