Man on remand over murders


SUNGAI PETANI: A  man is on remand for six days to assist police investigation into the stabbing deaths of a woman and man in an incident in Taman Nona, Guar Chempedak in Yan.

The remand order against the 29-year-old suspect was issued by Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa yesterday.

The investigation is under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, Bernama reported.

According to Yan police chief Supt Mohamad Hamizi Abdullah, the man was arrested in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, at 9.45am on Friday.

Previously, it was reported that the victims were found with several stab wounds to their bodies in Taman Nona in Guar Chem­pe­dak on Friday night.

The two victims, aged 30 and 28, were said to have been attacked by a man who was related to the woman using a sharp object.
