Kedah cops cripples motorcycle theft groups with arrest of six


ALOR SETAR: Kedah police cripples three motorcycle theft groups that have been active in Kota Setar here since early 2025.

Kedah deputy police chief Deputy Comm Baderulhisham Baharudin said six suspects were detained and with the arrests, police solved 10 cases of stolen motorcycles and components.

DCP Baderulhisham said in the operation, police seized a stolen motorcycle, two motorcycle frames, several motorcycle components, as well as tools used to steal and dismantle motorcycles.

"All suspects tested positive for drugs and had prior criminal records involving various drug-related offences," he said.

DCP Baderulhisham said that among those arrested are those who acted as thieves, middlemen, and buyers of stolen motorcycles.

The case is investigated under Section 379A and 379A(1) of the Penal Code (Punishment for theft of a motor vehicle).
