Govt saves over RM835mil through projects under Arpa, says Chief Secretary

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has saved more than RM835mil in regulatory cost through 122 projects implemented under the Public Service Reform Agenda (Arpa) since its introduction in Sept 10 last year.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said in the same period, more than 1,007 bureaucratic reform projects were registered under Arpa.

"We must not allow the public to face long waits for processes that can be simplified, particularly through digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Sept 10).

Shamsul Azri also called on the Arpa team to hold engagement sessions with industry players and relevant non-governmental organisations.

"This is in line with the spirit of the New Public Service, which places emphasis on public participation in the government’s policy-making process,” he said. — Bernama
