PETALING JAYA: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar called for immediate action to be taken on the critical service issues at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM).
He said this after inviting the Higher Education Ministry secretary-general, the Education Ministry, the vice-chancellor of Universiti Malaya and the PPUM administration team to discuss the matter.
“The provision of healthcare services has always been a priority for the Madani government. PPUM is a teaching hospital. Therefore, its services are in line with its capacity and capabilities as a teaching hospital.
“The discussions focused on policy issues based on complaints from the people such as issues related to long waiting times, challenging clinical services and the resources of skilled manpower and expertise.
“I have directed that immediate action be taken on the decisions made in these discussions,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 23).
