NEWLY crowned world champion Chen Tang Jie was spotted sharing a car with Chinese women’s doubles player Jia Yifan in Hong Kong, seemingly confirming rumours of a budding romance between the two, reported China Press.
On the eve of the Hong Kong Open on Monday, badminton fans lined up outside the hotel where the players were staying, hoping to catch a glimpse of their idols and get autographs.
Jia was photographed leaving the building and boarding a Rolls-Royce. Eagle-eyed fans pointed out that the other person in the car was Chen, who recently won the mixed doubles title at the 2025 World Championships alongside partner Toh Ee Wei.
Even though Chen and Toh will be skipping the Hong Kong Open from Sept 9 to Sept 14, a photograph Chen shared on social media seemed to show that he was in Hong Kong.
Fans also noticed that Jia had dyed her hair the same shade of blonde as Chen for the tournament.
It was previously reported that both Jia and Chen were rumoured to be dating, and the latest incident has fuelled further speculation about their romance.
