Court sets Oct 30 for decision on GISB CEO's representation


KAJANG: The Shah Alam High Court has set Oct 30 to decide on the representation by GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nasiruddin Mohd Ali and 21 other individuals for a review of the charge made against them for being members of an organised crime group.

Judge Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar set the date after Deputy Public Prosecutor Norinna Bahadun informed the court that the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) needed time to review the representation.

Lawyer Datuk Rosli Kamaruddin, representing all the accused, did not object.

When met by reporters after proceedings held at Kajang Prison, Rosli said the representation was submitted to the AGC in May.

On Oct 23, 2024, Nasiruddin and his wife, Azura Md Yusof, were charged in the Selayang Sessions Court with being members of an organised crime group.

Also charged were the son of Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad, Mohammad Adib At-Tarmimi and 19 other individuals, including Mohd Shukri Mohd Noor, Muhammad Afdaluddin Latif, Mohamad Sayuti Omar, Mohd Fazil Md Jasin, Mohd Dhirar Fakhrur Razi, Mokhtar Tajuddin, Muhammad Fajrul Islam Khalid, Abu Ubaidah Ahmad Shukri, Shuhaimi Mohamed, Hasnan Abd Hamid and Muhammad Zahid Azhar @ Nadzri.

Others were Khalilatul-Zalifah Mohammad Jamil, Nur Jannah Omar, Hamimah Yakub, Asmat@Asmanira Muhammad Ramly, Nurul Jannah Idris, Siti Salmiah Ismail, Siti Hajar Ismail and Mahani Kasim.

They were charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which is punishable by imprisonment of between five and 20 years, upon conviction, for being members of an organised crime group, GISBH, at a premises in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, here, between October 2020 and Sept 11, 2024. –
