Kajang police unit under investigation for alleged theft during raid

SHAH ALAM: A police unit in charge of conducting raids is under investigation following allegations that hundreds of thousands of ringgits in personal items were stolen during an inspection.

At a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 3) at the contingent headquarters, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that investigations into a police report lodged by the complainant had begun.

"The complainant suspected that the items were stolen during the raid by police officers from the Kajang police headquarters. Following the lodged report, the police have opened investigations and all those in the raiding party have been detained to assist investigations," he said.

He added that the complainant was staying at a homestay at the time and the raid was the result of alleged noise complaints.

It is believed that members of the unit were detained on Tuesday (Sept 2).

"At this moment I cannot share the number of policemen caught, but the group involved officers and rank and file. The original raid was from noise complaints from late in the evening into the early morning," he said.
