Crowds gather early for National Day parade

PUTRAJAYA: It is just past 4am, yet crowds have already begun to gather in anticipation of the National Day 2025 parade on Aug 31.

Along the Dataran Putrajaya stretch, the public has begun taking up their spots along the barricade to get the best views possible.

“We arrived yesterday evening, just to get our seats. It’s a once-a-year experience and we want to experience it the best way possible,” said Mohd Faris from Kuala Lumpur.

Business executive Syahmi Roslan, 34, said he wanted to experience the parades in person for the first time.

“We’ve seen snippets of the parade online, and it looks like something really enjoyable,” said Syahmi, who came with his wife.

The sidewalk along Dataran Putrajaya was also bustling with various traders setting up food and accessory stalls.

At the Putrajaya Sentral MRT station, crowds were building up as early as 3.30am.

There, shuttle bus services are provided to ferry the public to Dataran Putrajaya.

This year’s National Day celebration is themed "Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni”.

The Malaysia Day celebration will meanwhile take place in Penang on Sept 16.
