Dr Wee presents incentives to 176 top-scoring SMK Yong Peng students on eve of National Day

PETALING JAYA: A total of 176 students from SMK Yong Peng who have been offered places in public and private universities received incentives under the Johor Student Iniative on Saturday (Aug 30).

Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who presented the students with their incentives, said it was an initiative under the Johor government through Yayasan Pelajar Johor.

Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon, who is also Johor Health and Environment committee chairman, accompanied the MCA president. "Previously, YB Ah Soon and I had already handed out laptops and the first phase of incentives to students, and today we presented the remaining incentives," Dr Wee said in a Facebook post Saturday.

He congratulated the recipients and hoped the incentive would encourage them to remain diligent in their studies and achieve success.

Later, Dr Wee and Ling visited Kampung Olak Batu, where he said the residents are gathering together to celebrate National Day at midnight.

During the visit, they managed to attend the Sukaneka Merdeka 2025 sports celebration.

"I also took the opportunity to visit the futsal court and the facilities at a children's recreational park that were completed under the allocation I received as Ayer Hitam MP.

"Hopefully this park will not only be a plae for children to have fun but also a spot that fosters unity and strengthens friendships in society," Dr Wee said.
