MetMalaysia issues advisory on tropical depression, no impact on country

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Tropical Depression Advisory (a) at 8pm on Friday (Aug 29).

It was detected at latitude 17.2° north and longitude 110.8° east, approximately 303km northeast of Da Nang, Vietnam.

The MetMalaysia National Weather & Earthquake Operations Centre said in a statement that the storm is moving West-Northwest at 20kph with a maximum wind speed of 56kph.

MetMalaysia added the Tropical Depression (a) is approximately 1,318km northwest of the nearest city of Kudat, Sabah.

MetMalaysia stated that there has been no significant impact on Malaysia so far. – Bernama
