KOTA KINABALU: Upko should use its own logo to campaign and contest in the 17th Sabah Election, says a party leader.
Tenom Upko information chief Judis Nasir said the use of its own logo would give it an edge and portray its strength and independence.
He said it would convey confidence to the people that the Pakatan Harapan component party can stand on its own without being under another banner.

"Ever since Upko rebranded itself in 2019, we are no longer a mainly race-based party but a more inclusive and progressive entity," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 27).
"In Sabah’s political landscape, Upko has its own identity which is respected in a coalition, because we bring strength to the negotiating table," he added.
He said using its own logo would also show that Upko is not just a follower but a partner with a strong base of support.
He said Upko can work with many parties at both the state and federal levels.
"Such relationships are vital to ensure that the voice of Sabah is heard and the rights of the state are given priority in policy-making initiatives," he added.

Speaking on the latest developments heading into the state election, he said clashes of seats between parties were usually unavoidable, even among coalition components or allies.
This is because everyone thinks their candidate is the best and can win the seat, he added.
"What actually matters is the spirit of togetherness and loyalty among members and allies, so that we can work as a team to achieve a common goal of forming the next state government," he added.
He also said it was important to recognise and respect Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick as the chairman of Sabah Pakatan Harapan.
Ewon was given the mandate to lead Sabah Pakatan, but some component parties and members remain unhappy about it, he said.
