Sentul police, crime journalists score a goal for camaraderie in friendly football match

KUALA LUMPUR: The spirit of camaraderie was on full display during a friendly football match between the Crime Journalists Association (CiJA) and police officers and personnel from the Sentul police headquarters at Padang Kiara Bay here on Thursday (Aug 21) night.

The match, which kicked off at 8pm, ended with Sentul police securing a 6-4 victory over CiJA.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the game was held in a sporting and friendly atmosphere, aimed at fostering closer ties between the police and members of the media.

“The match is not just about football, but also about strengthening cooperation and building mutual trust between law enforcement and journalists in delivering crime news ethically and professionally.

“It also promotes healthier lifestyles for police personnel while enhancing two-way communication and rapport with the media,” he said.

Also present at the event was Sentul deputy OCPD Supt Jasni Zolpa.

Meanwhile, CiJA president Safeek Affendy Razali said the friendly brought together more than 20 journalists from various media organisations including The Star, Sinar Harian, Berita Harian, Kosmo, Astro Awani, Bernama, Harian Metro, Utusan and New Straits Times.

“This is the second time since CiJA was formed two years ago that we have organised such a football match. Beyond being a recreational activity, it also serves to further strengthen ties between our members and the police,” he said.
