Johor polls: MIPP to contest five seats under Perikatan

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) is set to contest five seats in the upcoming Johor election, says its president P. Punithan.

He said that the Johor polls will be a historic moment for MIPP as this is the first time the party will be contesting in an election.

"For the first time in history, MIPP will be contesting and we will be contesting under the Perikatan banner.

"This is a significant step for MIPP.

"It reflects the party's growth and shows that Perikatan Nasional leaders have confidence in the party's ability to work together in bringing Johor towards a better future," he said in his speech during the party's candidate announcement here on Thursday (June 25) night.

He said the five seats MIPP would be contesting are Bukit Permai, Paloh, Kota Iskandar, Pemanis and Permas.

"The candidates were chosen based on their integrity, education, capability and readiness to serve the people.

"They represent the new face of Johor and Malaysian politics," he said, adding that the candidates were aged 27 to 41.

The candidates are M. Lina Manoh (Bukit Permai), DS Jeevakumar (Paloh), SS Anna Pravina (Kota Iskandar), Dr A. Arvind (Pemanis), and T. Vela (Permas).
