KUALA LUMPUR: A raid was successfully conducted against an aesthetic clinic on May 6 by the Enforcement Division of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
During the raid, a counterfeit of a high-tech skin therapy machine and 25 transducers were seized. An original unit of the machine costs up to RM366,000.
Merz Aesthetics received a patient report in August 2025 regarding an Ultherapy Prime treatment at an aesthetic clinic in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Merz Aesthetics records, the clinic had not purchased any Ultherapy Prime device from Ulthera Inc (an affiliate of Merz Aesthetics) or its authorised distributor in Malaysia.

The Instagram of the clinic claimed that it was a branch of a hospital in Shanghai, China. A full investigation was then initiated around October 2025.
The raid conducted by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s Enforcement Division confirmed that the clinic was using a counterfeit Ultherapy Prime device.

Merz Aesthetics hopes the action raises awareness of the importance in choosing authentic Ultherapy Prime treatments. Patients are advised to seek certified providers who can present a valid Certificate of Authenticity for the said treatment.
