Hearing of bid to exhume body of Palapes cadet for second post-mortem set for Aug 25

PETALING JAYA: The hearing of the notice of motion to exhume the body of Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) trainee cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsuddin for a second post-mortem is scheduled for next Monday (Aug 25) at the Shah Alam High Court.

Judge Datuk Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet set the date after the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) requested time to file a counter-affidavit made by the deceased's mother, Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, 45, reported Sinar Harian.

Syamsul Haris, 22, from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia died while training at the Army Combat Training Centre in Ulu Tiram on July 28.

Johor police had said that a post-mortem found no signs of criminal injury but Ummu Haiman publicly called for an inquiry after finding “mysterious bruises” on her son’s body.
