KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans have been urged to fly the Jalur Gemilang and state flag to symbolise unity and patriotism.
State Information Department director Jainisah Mohd Noor said in a diverse and multi-cultural country like Malaysia, the act of flying both flags will prove a point.
“It shows that Malaysians, including Sabahans, live harmoniously in a multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural set up.
“Despite differences, we share one spirit and the same vision – to live as one in peace and prosperity,” she said when officiating the Malaysia Day and Sabah Day Jiwa Madani Carnival held at Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu.
The carnival was held jointly with the Sahabat Maritim X Borneo Food Fest Santuni Felda event.
Jainisah said both flags flown together would serve as a reminder that Malaysians lived together as a united community.
She urged the people to stay united and preserve the peace and harmony enjoyed for so long.
Jainisah, who also led the state Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy, said the various programmes lined up leading up to National Day, Malaysia Day and Sabah Day, would serve as a bridge to connect the government with the people.
“From these programmes, we can see many agencies come together to meet the people and find out their needs,” she said.
Among the 21 agencies and departments taking part in the programmes include the National Registration Department, Road Transport Department, Sabah Electricity, Wataniah and also financial institutions.
Also present were state maritime director First Admiral (maritime) Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali and Tungku Community Development leader Momen Anghai @ Anchai.
