Rayer and Lingeshwaran in PHEB gets thumbs up

THE reappointment of RSN Rayer and Datuk Seri R.A Lingeshwaran to lead the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) has been welcomed by the community, Makkal Osai reported.

The Jelutong MP and Senator were confirmed to the posts along with several new commissioners by the Penang state government.

Perak exco member A. Sivanesan welcomed the decision, saying appointing a Hindu to lead the Hindu endowments body was the right move.

The future of the PHEB’s leadership had came under scrutiny after Penang deputy chief minister Jagdeep Singh Deo reportedly expressed interest in taking on the role.

This was met both by opposition and support from those with different opinions within the local Hindu community.

Sivanesan also welcomed the appointment of Penang MIC communications chief Datuk Dhinagaran Jayabalan as one of the commissioners.
