Year Two pupil suffers broken eye socket and nose in alleged attack by schoolmates

KUALA TERENGGANU: A Year Two pupil at a primary school here has sustained a fractured orbital bone and broken nose in an alleged assault by a group of schoolmates.

The incident came to light when the boy returned home with blood and bruises on his face at around 4pm on July 30.

His mother said her son claimed he was attacked by several students who held his arms and punched him in the face.

"I took him to a private clinic and an X-ray (scan) confirmed the injuries. He was then referred to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Kuala Terengganu," she told reporters on Wednesday (Aug 13).

The boy, the second of three siblings, underwent surgery on Wednesday morning to treat a nasal fracture.

His mother claimed this was not the first time her son had been bullied. She alleged that in June, he suffered an eye injury after being hit with a rock but no police report was lodged at the time. However, she decided to take action following the latest incident.

She also said that on Monday (Aug 11), school authorities met with the parents of the pupils involved.

Meanwhile, Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor confirmed they had received a police report on the matter.

"The case has been referred to the school management and the Kuala Terengganu district Education Office for further action," he said. – Bernama
