Pontian cops nab 14 allegedly involved in gang fight


PONTIAN: The police have arrested 14 men aged from 13 to 25, were arrested by police for allegedly being involved in a fight where a male victim was injured.

Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib said the suspects were apprehended after the victim's brother lodged a police report claiming his sibling had been beaten up.

"We received the report at 4.23pm on Sunday (Aug 10) and the victim has been admitted to Pontian Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 11).

Supt Mohammad Shofee said that the police have opened an investigation paper and the case is being investigated under Section 427, Section 148 and Section 326 of the Penal Code.

"We would like to remind the public to refrain from spreading and sharing the video or information of the fight which is yet to be verified," he said.
