Shafie pledges no corruption, only progress for Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan’s decision to contest in all 73 seats was based on the Sabah people’s needs, says its president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He also stated that the party would be relying on the support of the people of Sabah in the upcoming election, as it does not have a large war chest.

“We have the plans and the capacity and can do better than GRS if given the chance to govern. So vote for Warisan in this coming state election, I am not forcing you, to vote is your right and I know that the rakyat knows what they need and require,” he said.

Shafie stated that Warisan would ensure its candidates would not focus on lobbying for projects or engaging in corrupt practices.

“Anyone aiming to be a Yang Berhormat should not own any businesses. If you are appointed as a cabinet minister, do not lobby for projects, or I will sack you,” said Shafie.

He added that the assemblyman or minister can lobby for a project if it is development for their constituency and not to line their pockets.

“For example, he can request road construction if it is for the benefit of the people,” said Shafie.

He also warned that the government’s allocations to state assemblymen should never be for personal use.

“Do not let me find out that the allocation was used to renovate your house or to purchase a new vehicle,” said Shafie.
