Man wielding two knives runs amok in Damansara Perdana


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man who ran amok and acted aggressively while wielding two knives in Damansara Perdana, near Petaling Jaya.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat said they received a report at 7pm on Monday (May 4), and a team from the Damansara police station was dispatched to the scene.

"Police found the suspect on a staircase holding two knives.

"Officers approached the suspect and ordered him to surrender. He was successfully apprehended without incident," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 5).

Shamsudin added that the suspect has been remanded for three days by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for carrying weapons in a public place. – Bernama
