KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has been briefed on the second phase of the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela 2) projects in the state.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil briefed Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on the projects during a courtesy call at Menara Kinabalu here on Tuesday (Nov 3).
Hajiji was told about the latest developments in the second phase of Jendela 2, a key initiative aimed at expanding digital communications infrastructure and connectivity in Sabah.
It is expected to benefit residents, particularly in rural and remote areas, who face challenges accessing quality internet services due to geographical factors and population distribution.
The Communications Minister had earlier announced that Jendela 2 would cover about 3,000 areas nationwide, and focus on 2,000 locations in the remote areas of Sabah and Sarawak for the second phase.
Accompanying Fahmi were Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MCMC member General (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.
Also present were state Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib, nominated assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Razali Mohd Razi, permanent secretary to the state Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry Datuk Hassan Mahali, and Sabah Net chairman Datuk Azman Ruslan.
