Dr Wee gives over RM100,000 to Ayer Hitam NGOs to support community outreach

PETALING JAYA: Twelve local associations and volunteer groups in Yong Peng have received a total of RM100,480 in funding from Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong to support their community service work.

Dr Wee presented the contribution on Sunday (Aug 10) during a regular meet-and-greet with his constituents.

“The funding, pledged earlier together with Yong Peng state assemblyman and Johor

exco Ling Tian Soon, is meant to help these groups continue serving the community,” he said in a post on his Facebook.

During the handover ceremony, Dr Wee also addressed concerns raised by community leaders and residents on several national issues, which include his call for public universities not to prioritise wealthy or foreign students ahead of local talent, among other issues.

“As the people’s voice, my MCA colleagues and I will not be intimidated or deterred in our fight to defend public interest,” he added.
