Four foreign men arrested in Kelantan gold mining bust


PETALING JAYA: The police thwarted an illegal gold mining operation following a raid in Jeli, Kelantan.

The Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department, in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 8), stated that the raid was conducted at approximately 2am.

"The raid resulted in the arrest of four Myanmar men who were suspected of being involved in an illegal gold mining operation.

"All suspects failed to present valid travel documents and mining licenses," it said.

Among the items seized were two excavators, two pumps and various equipment.

"The value of the seized items has been estimated to be approximately RM1,010,014," it said.
