Motorcyclist dies in four-vehicle crash on NSE near Tangkak


TANGKAK: A motorcyclist died on the spot in an accident involving two motorcycles and two lorries at KM160 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) near here.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received an emergency call at 2.52am on Thursday (Aug 7).

Seven firemen, a fire rapid tender (FRT) vehicle and an emergency medical response service (EMRS) vehicle from the Tangkak station rushed to the scene.

“Our team arrived at the site, located 15km from the station, at 3.02am," station chief Mohd Hairul Anuar said in a statement on Friday (Aug 8).

He said one lorry involved in the accident was carrying hydrogen peroxide, while the other was transporting unspecified cargo.

“The rider of one motorcycle, an adult male, was pronounced dead by the medical team from the Health Ministry at the scene," he added.

One lorry driver and the other motorcyclist were injured while the other driver and the lorry attendants escaped unhurt.

The victim's body was handed over to police for further action, Hairul added.
