Senior hiker dies on trail at Penang's Botanical Gardens


GEORGE TOWN: A 60-year-old man, identified as Lim Kee Wan, died after fainting during a hike at Moongate Trail Botanical Garden on Monday (July 21).

A spokesman from the State Fire and Rescue Department reported that at about 10am during his hike, Lim became unresponsive.

"A team of rescue personnel rushed to the location, found the man unconscious, and attempted to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)," he said.

Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

The spokesman added that the victim's body was brought down from the hill and handed over to the police for further action.
