KUALA LUMPUR: A 20-year-old private university student, who was previously reported missing, was found dead, believed to be from a fall.

Cheras deputy OCPD Supt Ridzuan Khalid said the victim, Sithu Hpone Maw, from Myanmar, was believed to have fallen from the 26th floor of the condominium he was staying at.

“His body was found at about 8.30am on July 9.

“The victim’s 54-year-old father has since identified the body on July 16,” he said when contacted.

The case has been classified as sudden death, he added.

“The victim’s family will bring his remains back to Myanmar on July 22,” he said.

The police have recorded the statements of five individuals in connection with the case.

The university has issued a statement, saying the victim will be remembered for his spirit, dedication and the happiness he brought to those around him.

“We stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and loved ones during this time of profound loss.

“We also empathise with the Myanmar community on campus as we mourn this tragic loss together.”
