PETALING JAYA: It was a sight to behold as more than a thousand people of all ages and backgrounds gathered, each dressed as the iconic Man of Steel.

Clad in Superman's legendary red-and-blue costume, 1,007 Malaysians came together at a mall in Johor Baru on Saturday (July 12) to set a new Malaysia Book of Records milestone for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Superman.

From pint-sized preschoolers with capes trailing adorably behind them to adults sporting slicked-back curls and red boots, the atmosphere was nothing short of super.

Others came as popular DC Comics characters such as Supergirl, Batman, Hawkman, the Joker and the beings of New Genesis, to mention some, adding to the colourful display of fandom.

*The event, co-organised by TGV Cinemas and AEON Mall, was not just about breaking records but also a celebration of family, fandom and shared joy.

TGV Cinemas captured the spirit of the occasion on social media, sharing, “We made history – together! Huge congratulations to AEON Mall for hosting this unforgettable moment. From fans and families to cosplayers and partners, you helped turn this dream into reality. We did it, Malaysia!"*

In addition to the record-breaking gathering, children took part in a colouring contest while participants mingled, posed for photos, and paraded around the mall in their superhero gear.

The event also marked the release of the latest Superman film, now screening nationwide.

After a day of fun and fandom, many participants ended the day by watching their hero soar once more, this time on the big screen.
