Undergrad breaks pelvis after falling from fourth floor of varsity hostel

KUALA PILAH: A male undergraduate at a public university here suffered a broken pelvis after he jumped from the fourth floor of a hostel block.

Kuala Pilah OCPD Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said the incident happened about 1.40am on Saturday (July 6).

"Based on our investigations, the victim who was in his first semester, heard voices telling him to jump off the block.

"He had gone up the fourth floor without anybody's knowledge," he said, adding that other students then informed the university management, which then contacted the police.

The victim was rushed to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in an ambulance.

Supt Muhamad Mustafah said checks revealed that the victim was a disabled person (OKU) card holder and had previously undergone psychiatric treatment at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban.

"The victim did not suffer any other serious injury and has been warded for further treatment," he said, adding that his condition was stable.

He urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case and urged those with information to contact the district police at 06 848 2999.
