Thunderstorm warning issued for four states and Putrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for areas in Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Putrajaya.

These warnings will be in effect until noon on Friday (July 4), MetMalaysia said in a post on it's Facebook page.

In Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang are on alert for severe weather. This includes Putrajaya.

In Perak, the affected districts include Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, and Hilir Perak.

In Negeri Sembilan, districts including Seremban, Port Dickson, and Rembau are expected to experience adverse conditions.

The warning extends to the entire state of Melaka.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
