KL cops launch manhunt for Myanmar national over murder of co-worker

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched a manhunt for a Myanmar national believed to have killed his co-worker after an argument at a scrap metal shop in Jalan 1/18B, Kampung Batu, Off Jalan Ipoh, here on Sunday (June 29).

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said that they were also in the process of recording statements from five identified witnesses in the case, comprising the premises owner, co-workers, and the victim's family.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim died from stab wounds, and police also found a knife at the scene, but it has not yet been confirmed whether it was the knife used to stab the victim," he said when contacted on Monday (June 30).

Earlier, police reportedly received an emergency call from the premises owner at 11:33pm on Sunday, informing them of a fight between two of his workers - the victim, a 37-year-old local man, and a Myanmar national - while they were drinking at the scrap metal shop.

Preliminary police checks at the scene found the victim shirtless and holding a machete in his left hand, with injuries to his right shoulder, left side of the head, neck, left chin, and a puncture wound on the shoulder.- Bernama
