July 12 still a public holiday in Penang despite ceremony delay, says state speaker

GEORGE TOWN: Penangites will still have a public holiday on July 12, even though the investiture ceremony for Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib's 84th birthday has been postponed to July 26.

State assembly speaker Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang stated that the celebrations and ceremony have been rescheduled to run from July 26 to 30.

"This was due to the scheduling of the 269th meeting of the Rulers Conference during the original dates," said Law in a statement on Monday (June 30).
