Two Sabah assemblymen, businessman to be charged with graft on June 30

KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabah assemblymen and a businessman are expected to be charged in the Special Corruption Court here on Monday (June 30) morning.

The trio are scheduled to be heard at 9am in the case brought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This development follows an investigation into alleged corruption involving several public officials. More details are expected to be revealed during the court proceedings.

The allegations, which first surfaced in November 2024, appear to implicate at least 15 politicians from the ruling GRS coalition, including state ministers, assistant ministers and the State Assembly Speaker.

MACC has received a full video recording, a mobile phone and 300 pages of supporting documents from a whistleblower.

To date, the MACC has said only two assemblymen and a businessman would be charged, while the status of the others are still under review by the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
