Man who rode motorcycle against traffic in Johor is believed to have Alzheimer's


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have located an 80-year-old man, believed to be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, who was seen riding a motorcycle against traffic without wearing a helmet.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the man was spotted along KM24 of the Second Link Expressway at around 10.30am on Tuesday (June 17).

“He rode against the flow of traffic for approximately 700m in a dangerous manner and without wearing a helmet.

“He was later brought to the Iskandar Puteri district traffic investigation and enforcement division,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 18).

ACP Kumarasan added that the man’s family had been contacted, and the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He said the authorities were waiting for a medical report to confirm the man's condition before deciding on further action.

He also urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Iskandar Puteri police hotline at 07-5101322.

Earlier, a 12-second video clip of the incident went viral, showing the man riding against traffic.
