Woman falls to death from 13th floor of NIlai apartment during drug raid

NILAI: A foreign woman in her 20s has died after falling from the 13th floor of an apartment block in Bandar Baru Nilai here early Friday (May 1).

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the Nilai police headquarters was alerted to the 1.51am incident while a police team was carrying out a narcotics raid at the apartment building.

“During the raid, the woman is believed to have tried to escape through the balcony of the apartment unit before slipping and falling from the 13th floor,” he said in a statement.

He said a motorcycle patrol unit was sent to the scene and found the victim unconscious.

A medical team from the Nilai health clinic later pronounced her dead at the scene and her body was sent to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem.

Alzafny said preliminary investigations found no criminal elements so far.

“The case has been classified as sudden death, but further investigations are ongoing, including recording statements from witnesses,” he said.

He also advised the public not to speculate on the incident as it could disrupt investigations.

Those with information have been urged to contact the Nilai district police headquarters or the nearest police station. – Bernama
